PORTOLA PACKAGING LTD recently attended the EBWA (European Bottled Watercooler Association) conference and exhibition in Odessa, Ukraine. Alongside 20 other exhibitors, this small but well-attended show drew visitors not only from Ukraine itself, but also neighbouring Russia, Moldova as well as several delegates from Western Europe. PORTOLA continues to be a major supplier to the 5 Gallon (19 litre) closure market, having developed it's original foam ring seal cap into a new lightweight 'flow-in' foam sealant, providing a more forgiving cap - which is able to cope with the variations in neck-finishes of ploycarbonate and PET bottles. There appears to be a strong demand for 5 Gallon bottles water in these regions - due to poor supply infrastructure and lower quality of water, particularly around the more populated and industrial areas. Fortunately there are many good sources of mineral and spring water available in these regions also.
